Back to Burnaby South for 2020!

The BC Grade 9 Boys Provincial Championships (celebrating our 24th year), are going back to Burnaby South. Our original pick for 2020 was Centennial, who have done a great job hosting in the past, but unfortunately their new 2nd gym may not be ready in time. We were very pleased when Coach Robbie Puni of Burnaby South offered to Host again and build on the good hosting job they did in 2019.

The Rich Goulet Award for Basketball Lifetime Achievement – Paul Eberhardt – 2019

We’re pleased to present this award to Paul Ebernhardt.

Paul Eberhardt

This will be Paul’s 38th year of coaching basketball and his 7th year
leading the Falcons. Paul has coached at all levels of basketball including
High School, Provincial Team, National Team and the CCAA.

Coach Ebe guided his RC Palmer Griffins to the ultimate title in BC High School Sports as they won the “AAA” BC Championships in 2011. He then followed that up with back to back Canadian College PACWEST titles in 2013 & 2014 and led the Langara Falcons to their first National Title in 15 years beating Red Deer in the finals in 2014.

Paul is one of only a handful of coaches who has taken three different teams to the BC High School Championships (Magee, McNair, & RC Palmer) and he also guided the Capilano Blues to a BC Championship and National Final Four in 2003.

Coach Ebe has been very involved in the BC Elite program having been the Head Coach on 10 occasions winning 6 Western Canadian Gold medals and 1 National silver medal. Presently Ebe is the chair of the U17
selection committee and is actively involved in helping to develop the BBC Elite program. He also had the opportunity to serve as an assistant to Coach Jay Triano and the men’s National team from 2000 to 2004.

Coach Eberhardt has received many honours in his career including BBC High School Coach of the Year in 2007 & 2011, Richmond Coach of the Year in 2011, Mike Potkonjak Coaching Award of Excellence in 2007, PACWEST Coach of the Year in 2013, 2014, & 2017, Sport BC Coach of the Year in 2014 and CCAA Men’s BB Coach of the Year in 2013.

Coach Eberhardt is also very involved in volunteering his time as the President of the BC High School Boys Basketball Association from 2013 to 2018 and he has also served on the board of directors for the “Night Hoops” program.

Presently Coach Ebe’s record at Langara College in the past 6 years is a
very impressive 97 wins and 23 losses in league play (.808)  and 14 wins and 8 losses (.636) in the playoffs.
