Vancouver College Fighting Irish wins!

The Vancouver College Fighting Irish won the 2020 BC Gr9 Provincials with a 53-44 win over the Okanagan Mission Huskies on the strength of a great game by Tourney MVP Mikyle Malabuyoc. OKM pulled within 4 late in the game but a Kai Gibbons‘ 3 sealed it for the Irish. Kai made the 2nd All-Star Team as well as Co-Player of the Game along with OKM’s Ryan Dekleva.
This is VC’s record 6th Gr9 Provincial Title and 2nd for Head Coach Ryan Shams.

The 3rd and 4th Place Game saw a record 4th overtime game in this 2020 Gr9 Provincials and with the never quit, Burnaby South Rebels in 2 of them. (1 triple, 2 doubles and a single OT in this year’s tourney).
Sir Charles Tupper Tigers late 4th quarter 7 pt run saw them lead by 3 in the dying seconds on an amazing 3 pt by First Team All-Star Jeremy Roldan only to have South’s Lex Paluma (a Tourney All-Star), answer with a 3 with 6 seconds on the clock to force the 1st OT. With 4 – 3’s traded by Roldan and South’s Thomas Suson, a bucket and 2 foul shots, the game went to the 2nd OT with South hanging on for the win.
