2026 Grade 9 Boys Invitational Basketball Tournament
Welcome & Information Letter – Lord Byng Secondary
Dear Coaches and Teams,
On behalf of Lord Byng Secondary School, we are thrilled to welcome all 24 teams participating in the 2026 Grade 9 Boys Invitational Basketball Tournament. We are excited to host you and look forward to an excellent weekend of competition, camaraderie, and school spirit.
Thank you for making the trip to join us—our staff, volunteers, and school community have been preparing extensively to ensure your experience is positive, organized, and memorable. We’re proud to partner with Kitsilano Secondary, who will be hosting games as well, and we hope you enjoy both venues throughout the tournament.
LORD BYNG SECONDARY – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
📍 Parking
- While heading west on 16th Avenue, turn right onto Wallace Street, then take an immediate left into the parking lot.
- Parking fees have been turned off for the duration of the tournament – parents, coaches, and fans will not need to pay.
- If anyone from your team receives a parking violation, please give it to:

It will be reversed.
🏀 Gym Entrance
- The main gym entrance is directly off the parking lot.
- It will be clearly marked with tournament signage.
🎟️ Admission
- Adults: $10
- Students & Seniors: $5
- There is no tournament pass available.
- A different colored wristband will be issued to spectators each day.
- Wristbands are valid at both Lord Byng and Kitsilano.
🧍 Spectator Seating
- During school hours (8:30 AM–3:00 PM):
- Spectators must sit in the lower red bleachers.
- Lord Byng students will sit in the upper bleachers.
- After school:
- Spectators may sit anywhere in the gym.
Concession
- Located in the Southeast corner of the gym – There will a concession stand with pizza, popcorn, candy etc and drinks available
Coaches Room –
- The Coaches Room – Will be located behind the score table on a stage. Please let your teams know that this area is for coaches and managers only.
🚻 Change Rooms
During school hours (8:30 AM–3:00 PM):
- Home team: Boys change room (Northeast corner of the gym – signed)
- Away team: South storage room under the bleachers
After school (3:00 PM onward):
- Home team: Boys change room
- Away team: Girls change room
Important:
- Do not leave belongings in the change rooms—please bring all items to your bench.
- The next teams scheduled to play should:
- Wait until halftime of the previous game to enter the change room.
- Vacate the room before the conclusion of the game before theirs.

⛑️ First Aid
- Ice and first aid kits are on site.
- A first aid attendant and physio/massage therapist will be available throughout the tournament to assist with injuries.
💵 Tournament Fees
Please have all cheques ready at the start of the tournament, including:
- Entry fee
- Merchandise orders
- Banquet fees
If possible, combine these into one cheque.
🏅 Code of Conduct
We ask all spectators, coaches, and teams to uphold the tournament’s Code of Conduct.
There will be zero tolerance for abusive or inappropriate behaviour.
🏀 Game Balls
- Teams must bring their own warm‑up balls.
- Lord Byng and Kitsilano will supply a Size 7 Molten game ball for official games.
🍽️ Tournament Banquet
- Friday, February 27 – 7:00 PM
- Hosted in the Lord Byng Gym
- More details will be provided soon.
